Crosstowne's MOVEMENT includes anyone willing to live together the TLC values of the movement; namely, Turning Strangers into Friends, Leaning to Need, and Community Building.
Turn Strangers Into Friends
In a busy, competitive, crowded and often self-involved world in a constantly changing and increasingly diverse city, those with whom we commute, shop and pass on the sidewalks are mostly strangers. We were made for more than that. We will slow down, see people, smile more, listen more deeply, and as we share moments... strangers may become friends.
Lean Toward Needs
There are amazing benefits gained by being an individual citizen of this town. But are there needs in this town - in agencies, in your neighborhood or in the life of a new friend- to which we can lean our time, our resources and even the commitment of our hearts?
There is an old African proverb that goes, "If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." This Crosstowne movement has a long way to go for it to be truly said of Milton, "Love has come to town." We want to go together, to love and to be loved. We were made for community. As Martin Luther King jr. put it, all people are ' caught in an inescapable network of mutuality.'
